The IECG World Championship is not an open tournament, players cannot request participation themselves, they are invited to attend based on the conditions described in our IECG rules, section D.9.1
This page should give you the latest information about the IECG World Championship Stages. It should be updated every couple of days just before a new stage starts, and less regularly in the meantime. To make the search easier, this page has been divided in four sections:

I.- General remarks
This new update is just to announce that the 10th IECG World Championship is over and the winner is Miguel Angel Canovas Pordomingo from Spain (see the tournament in section four below).
Miguel also kindly accepted our invitation for an interview (conducted by Thomas Niessen) and in addition he offered a commented game. Our warmest congratulations go to Miguel for this outstanding result.

Finally, please remember that
Next October 15th
will be the official start date of the IECG World Championship 2011 Semi-Final!!.
So the invitations should be sent on September 16th.
The qualification list below list (in section III below) has been updated
considering the rating list#68 published on May. Please
check this list and do not hesitate to let me know if you have any
question or doubt.
According to the schedule, the invitations should be sent out around
March 21st, 2008.

This list is informal, unless the link shows the comment "Invitations distributed!". Especially qualifications through the rating list are based on the actual rating list and are for information only. This lists are updated every two months (when the rating list is calculated), unless the invitations have sent out. Then updates will take place more often.
