IECG - International Email Chess Group - is an electronically based organization, whose aim is to organize, develop and promote the study and practice of international e-mail or server correspondence chess all over the world. It supports and promotes close cooperation between chess players and other organizations with similar goals. All of its activities are *free* of charge, and its officials work on a volunteer basis.

Dear friends - I have just updated the Qualified players List for the IECG World Championship 2010 Candidates-Final. Remember that this event should start on June 15th, 2009 and I am planning to send the invitations to the players on May 23rd. The invitations will be sent ONLY to the players included in the list published in the IECG World Championship Page. PLEASE verify the information to know if you will be invited, and let me know if something is missing or wrong, specially if you want me to check why you have not been included (see my address inside of the mentioned page).

Dear friends, the next World Championship stage will be the IECG World Championship 2010 Candidates-Final to be launched on June 15th, 2009. If you think that you should be in this list and you do not find your name, please let me know immediately!! Players from running Semi-Finals events still have time to participate this year if the position is defined no later than April 30th. Qualifications after April 30th will be transfer for the next year.

Hector Mujica February 25, 2009 - Nigel Robson is the new IECG World Champion !
The IECG World Championship 2006 is decided. Some days ago the IECG Grand Master Nigel Robson (2682) from England won his last game, and Anatoli Sirota (2561) who finished in the second place made a draw in his final game. So, we are proud to announce that IECG has a new IECG World Champion!!. With this result we have now three countries tied with two IECG world champions: Germany, Argentina and England. Nigel also kindly accepted our invitation for an interview (conducted by Thomas Niessen) and in addition he offered a commented game, so shortly we will be publishing additional information about this important event. Our warmest congratulations to Nigel for this outstanding result.

An updated version of our Rules and Regulations is online. The new text will be applicable as soon as March 1st, 2009. Please be sure to get the text and check for the changes, which focus mostly on our relationship with LSS and the integration of the server tournaments (chapters A, B and D).

Hector Mujica December 17, 2008 - Upcoming IECG/BdF match
IECG and the German Correspondence Chess Association: the Deutscher Fernschachbund - BdF are organizing a friendly match. The contest will start on January 1st, 2009 on 55 boards between German speaking IECG players and BdF players. It will be played on the BdF chess server with a standard time control. We would like to give our gratefulness to all players of the IECG team in this important event against BdF, we do not have any doubt that this will be a great experience. Hector Mujica November 08, 2008 - IECG World Championship 2008 Final
Next November 12 will be the official start date of the IECG World Championship 2008 Final and Consolation-Finals. In this 2008 Final 15 very strong players are participating, the average rating of this group is 2458!! In Consolation Finals 81 players are participating in ten tournaments, 2 to be played by mail and 8 in the server. Due to the fact that in this event the groups are created in a top down rating, also some strong groups were created here (2377, 2309, 2214, 2140, 2049.....). The preliminary phase of the IECG Cup 2008 started one month ago. There are 23 email groups with a global rating average of 1563, and 53 server groups with a global rating average of 1807. This makes a grand total of 532 members attending. Thanks to all participants for their interest.
